Rail vehicle diagnostic systems and measuring systems developed and manufactured in Hungary for the safety of traffic
>> Introduction
Uncompromising
rail transport
Navipro has worked with MÁV Zrt. in rail vehicle diagnostics since 2014 and has become one of the key players in this market in Hungary. Our measuring systems, developed and manufactured in Hungary, and our other rail diagnostic solutions are built into the track, where they monitor the condition of passing trains in real time without human intervention and immediately signal whenever a hazardous vehicle crosses the measuring section.
The eRDM wheel load measuring system we install is approved and certified by the authorities: its operating accuracy is guaranteed even at 160 km/h.
In the past decade we have so far installed wheel load measuring equipment at 34 sites, and 17 loading gauge monitoring, 7 flange checking and 5 pantograph monitoring systems have been put onto the MÁV network. Our solutions hold MÁV approval, and traffic control handles their alarms under the infrastructure manager's procedures: the measuring point immediately flags an overloaded, unevenly loaded or wheel-defective vehicle, so that it can be removed from traffic before it damages the track or causes an accident on the open line.

Award-winning engineering
Besides MÁV, we also take part in the projects of Hungarian railway main contractors in design, construction and maintenance. Dynamic wheel load measurement is one of the most effective tools against derailments: according to the EU-supported D-RAIL research (2011-2014), it can prevent at least 20% of derailments.
The eRDM wheel load system, developed by evopro Innovation Kft., won the Hungarian Product Grand Prize, the 24th Hungarian Innovation Grand Prize and the Hungarian Electrotechnical Association's special prize.

>> Capabilities
Data-driven, safe railway operations
Besides the diagnostic systems built into the track, our railway solutions also include various measuring devices as well as systems serving train identification.
Station weighing
Installation, refurbishment and digitalisation of static and dynamic vehicle scales: building the workstation, developing the scale control software and linking it to the load cells, creating a uniform measurement data format, and sending results via mobile network to the central database. The static scale weighs a stationary vehicle, while the dynamic scale weighs a train passing at walking pace (1-5 km/h).
Optical train identification
We install our OCR camera measuring points for the real-time identification of trains: side-facing and direction-facing cameras, laser triggering and their own lighting read the vehicle numbers, and the data acquisition unit compares the actual composition of the train with the train load statement. The discrepancy is both a traffic safety and an accounting matter, so we make it visible immediately.
Central data acquisition and alarm handling
Data from the measuring points arrives in a uniform structure in the central system, so the same measurement serves traffic control, maintenance planning and accounting. We handle alarms according to the infrastructure manager's procedures, at several levels, with separately adjustable thresholds. The system also tracks trends, so a deteriorating vehicle condition is visible before the alarm level is reached.
The dynamic wheel load measuring systems installed by us follow the European standard which governs the measurement of vertical forces acting on wheels and wheelsets.
